The Emergence of Bangladesh on 26th March 1971 as an independent state exemplifies unprecedented struggle for freedom marked by interpid sacrificess,unflagging determination and love.Following journy of epic proportions,through untold miseries and sufferings,massive movement and protest, and finally vigorous armed struggle aginst Pakistan military junta we achieveed our victory on 16th Drcember 1971.
The population is ethnically heterogeneous.The tribes inhabiting different parts of the country are discernible in terms of language,race,religion and customs.the people practice a variety of religions like Islam,Hinduism,Christian,Buddhism,though Islam is the religion of the majority.Indeed in Bangladesh Islam constitutes a strong social force and the melange of the culturel heritage that is unique to Bangladesh.More than 98% of the people speak Bangla.However,English is widely understood.
With a view to improving the quality of life of people the present Government of Bangladesh has embarked upon massive develpoment program through out country.Bnagladesh is inhabited by a strong and struggling nation capable of enduring the unendurable,living the unlivable and yet seeking tha path freedom,democracy and development.(mamoon018@yahoo.com)
